Terms of Service
Last updated August 2026
Draft — under legal review. These terms describe how Family Rumpus works today and how we intend to be held to it; the final reviewed version will replace this page before Family Rumpus is offered beyond friends and family.
These terms cover your use of Family Rumpus ("the Service"), operated by Kerfuffle Labs LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("we," "us"). Using the Service means you agree to them.
Accounts and your family
A family account is created and run by an adult (the "Account Owner"), who may add family members, including children, and controls their access and settings. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you provide and for activity under your family's accounts. Sign-in is passwordless via email links or codes — keep your email account secure.
Children
Children use Family Rumpus under a parent's control. Parents create each child profile, can review a child's chats and creations, set ground rules, restrict features, and delete a child's profile at any time. By creating a child profile you confirm you are that child's parent or legal guardian and consent to the collection described in our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy notice.
What the assistant is — and isn't
Family Rumpus is an AI assistant. It can be wrong. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. It is not a doctor, lawyer, accountant, or emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Check anything that matters — dates, dosages, addresses, prices — before acting on it. Features that act on your behalf (creating events, sending messages, watching pages) do what you ask; you're responsible for what you ask.
Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to break the law, harm or harass anyone, generate sexual content involving minors, infringe others' rights, attempt to breach or overload our systems, or resell the Service. We may suspend accounts that do.
Your content
Your family's content is yours. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the Service for you — store it, process it, and pass it to the vendors listed in our Privacy Policy to produce the results you asked for. We don't claim ownership, and we don't use your content to train AI models.
Content you create with generative features (images, songs, stories) is yours to use, subject to our providers' terms. AI-generated output may resemble other works; you're responsible for how you use it.
Plans, billing, and limits
Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor. Plans include a monthly usage allowance; heavy use may require a capacity pack or pause certain features until the allowance resets. You can cancel any time — access continues until the end of the paid period. We don't provide refunds for partial periods except where the law requires.
We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply at your next renewal, never mid-cycle.
Availability
We aim for a dependable service but don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and we may retire ones that don't work well. Material changes get notice. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and a way to export your family's data.
Ending it
You can delete your family and cancel at any time from Settings; deletion is permanent and destroys your encryption keys. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, with notice where practical.
Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some states don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll notify the Account Owner at least 30 days before they take effect.
Disputes
We'd rather fix problems directly — write to us first at [email protected]. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
